Support for Practice Transitions – MedRecords

MedRecords is a non-profit organization, endorsed by Doctors of BC, that supports physicians through practice transitions such as retirement, downsizing, or relocating.


Their services include:

  • Secure storage of medical records for up to 35 years (in line with College requirements)

  • Handling patient and third-party record requests and patient notifications

  • Coordinating with EMR vendors to manage the migration and storage of digital records

  • Pickup and digitization of paper records – including for those transitioning to an EMR system


Family physicians may be eligible for free services, and there's no cost to explore options.
