New CT Scanner at Squamish General Hospital

We are pleased to share that patients in the Sea to Sky region will be able to access computed tomography (CT) services closer to home when our new state-of-the-art CT scanner goes into operation at SGH on Monday, July 13, 2026. The addition of this important imaging capacity in Squamish will improve access to timely diagnostics, enhance care and support better outcomes for patients.

Prior to the Squamish CT scanner coming online, the nearest sites with CT services have been Lions Gate Hospital and Whistler Health Care Centre. The new CT scanner at SGH is expected to perform 7,000 scans per year, or about 20 scans per day, allowing patients to access diagnostic services in their community and reducing the time and financial cost required to travel to other locations for medical imaging.

The CT scanner will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, with plans to expand hours as more staff receive CT training.

We would like to thank Squamish Hospital Foundation for its generous contributions to help fund the purchase and installation of this technology, including donations from Sea to Sky Regional Hospital District and Woodfibre LNG.
