New Substance-Use Stabilization Program in Squamish to Support Recovery

This project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as part of the substance-use bed-based continuum of care. Turning Point Recovery Society will operate the site, providing clients with a safe, inclusive environment with embedded health-care supports.

  About the program

• The program will have 10 substance-use stabilization beds.

• This is a four to six-week program for adults age 19 and older who have completed withdrawal management and require additional structured support before moving on to further treatment.

• Clients will have access to Indigenous cultural support, care planning, clinical and medication support, connections to primary care, social supports and group counselling.

• Access to the Turning Point stabilization program in Squamish is prioritized for residents of the Sea to Sky corridor, reflecting local service needs and supporting care closer to home.

• Clients seeking to enroll in the program must be referred by the VCH Sea to Sky Mental Health and Substance Use team.

  The program will play a crucial role in supporting people to improve their quality of life and identify the next steps in their recovery journey by providing physical, emotional and psychological supports. Turning Point staff will work with clients in determining appropriate transition plans and connections to care following their stay, which may include bed-based treatment programs and/or outpatient substance use counselling.
