Dinner with a Purpose - Reflections and Follow-ups

On behalf of Dr. Angela Rivers, Dr. Naomi Farrell, and Dr. Annie Gornall. Thank you to all who attended, and we hope the evening brought some new connections, and some personal and collective opportunities for our Medical Community.

Our medical community is evolving to meet the needs of the growing population in the Sea to Sky corridor, while navigating the challenge of working with infrastructure that has yet to catch up. This has meant an increasing number of Squamish providers and more siloed delivery of medical care. The strength of this medical community in the past has been based on family physicians working in multiple areas of health care and understanding patient care from the many different points of reference.  As the complexities of Medicine as well as the population have grown, we have become more specialized in our areas.  We hope that events like these help us maintain our connection with our colleagues, enhance our understanding of the patient experience, and make us feel supported in the hard work we do. 

We are grateful for the colleagues who have collaborated and laid the foundations for the patient care we are able to provide in our town. As medical providers, there are many ways in which we can get involved in patient care.  We encourage our community care providers to participate in the care provided at our local hospital and long-term care facility, and to join the MSA (Medical Staff Association). Diversity in practice promotes longevity, sustainability, and enjoyment of our medical careers.

Get involved at Long-term Care - Hilltop House:

become more involved in long-term care, see your own patients and families, plus bigger opportunities

Hospital In Patient Care:

Any Family Physician is welcome to see their own inpatients while in hospital, or join the in-patient care group and do approximately 1 week every 1-2 months of in-patient care.
